Louis Vuitton previews their FW19 season on the runway
Its runway season for luxury brands and Virgil Abloh just released his second collection as Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton. Abloh, the founder and CEO of Off-White, is famous for thinking outside of the box in terms of design. For this year’s Paris Fashion Week, he debuted rainbow fiber optic bags, along with light-up sneakers. The black duffel features fiber optics on the interior, allowing the Louis Vuitton pattern to light-up in fluctuating colors of the rainbow. No more worrying about flexing at night: if people can’t see your bag in the dark, just make it glow.
Coincident with the bag, Louis Vuitton will be releasing high top sneakers. These eye catching kicks actually feature miniature digital screens on the tongue of each shoe that display a short animated clip of the LV logo. Along with this, there are various parts of the shoes that have the capability of lighting up in different colors. As of now there is not much information about the shoes, except for what was seen during fashion week and a few social media posts, so I am left with a few questions. First off, I wonder if they will need to be charged, and if they do, how long will the batteries last. In addition, all that tech must come at a price, so I imagine the sneakers, as well as the bag, will be quite pricey.
Some other pieces that stand out in the collection include a jacket with multiple bags attached to the front, various bags with orange or black chains, and even a Jenga-like tower set! The collection will be released sometime this spring.
